Stock and Station
The Myco Livestock Management System has been our flag ship product since its development
in 1992. Our aim was to create a practical yet flexible system that would do everything that a
Livestock Selling Agency desired. This would enable agents to be leaders in their chosen field.
MYCO is the first choice in software for leading independent agencies in
Australia and New Zealand. It was the first system written for agents in the Windows
environment and has successfully been migrated through all versions of Windows since
its inception. It is now being developed as a web enabled application, ensuring the
livestock agent's office stays up-to-date with the benefits of modern information
technologies.
Copes with change
Very early on we learnt about the complexity of the livestock industry. We found the method
of processing sales and the application of fees and charges changed every 4 months or every
40 kilometres! The rate of change continues unabated today, confirming our belief that
software is a living breathing entity, just as we are.
Almost 90% of the enhancements we write into our software are a direct result of
feedback from our clients. We manage change and improvement with an experienced team of
programmers and help desk staff on call 24 hours/ 7 days a week.
When we started, we asked livestock agents what they wanted. and we received two
important messages; first was the importance of service and support - the human aspect,
almost more important than the software itself. The second was the software must be
practical to use and change with business needs. So that is where we started!

within the livestock industry MYCO has developed a very flexible system where operators can
choose from many options to suit their specific needs.
This gives you flexibility to run your business your way. Here are just a few examples
of the functionality of the MYCO System features.
All kinds of sales
The Myco Livestock System can be used to process all kinds of stock sales; sheep, cattle,
stud sales, agent to agent sales, private sales, store sales, net sales
(where there's a different price between buyer and vendor). You name it - MYCO can do it.
We have setup a core "livestock processing engine" so that it is generic to processing all
kinds of stock. In fact you setup your sales types as you wish and you can have as many of
them as you like.
Easy sale set up
Using the MYCO Livestock Sales Parameters menu you can customise the sale processing.
You configure how you want to charge commission; as a % or flat rate. And you decide how
it will automatically generate a rebate to external agents. The parameters include a
sophisticated company agent rebate system. Scale fees and yard dues can be calculated in
all sorts of ways. It will calculate the cattle transaction levy, charge advertising levies,
collection fees, licence fees, slaughter levies and transit insurance in either a fixed or
tabled rate.
User definable charges
There are also five user definable charges where you can create charges specific to your
needs. To do this you indicate what report to apply your charge, either on the account sale
or invoice, then select the calculation method; percentage, per head, per lot, per weigh
head, etc.. These parameters can also be configured to post directly into the general and
client ledgers. This might be for the MYCO Accounting system or you own core financial
reporting system.
Livestock Sales
When you enter sale details you record standard information like pen number, type of
stock, vendor, price, buyer, weight, and comments. You can also enter extra charges at any
time, they can be applied to the lot, for example, cartage, droving, feeding, advertising,
and many more. You can indicate whether you want a collection fee taken out of the charge.
Reduce data entry
Why waste time typing when you can get an electronic download or disk from the saleyard?
Then more than half your work is already done. All you need to do is add your extra charges
and check details before processing.
MYCO interfaces with major saleyard software suppliers and have an inbuilt cross reference
list to allow easy matching of the saleyard codes with your own codes. You have better things
to do with your time!
Documentation
After a sale is entered you can verify the totals before printing out the sale
documentation, for example, account sales, invoices and sale summaries. Draft reports can be
printed prior to posting. Invoices can be also faxed or emailed automatically.
Big Sales
The sale entry system also allows more than one operator to enter data into the same sale
at the same time, especially useful if the sale is large and requires quick data entry. It
will also automatically produce Department of Primary Industries levy accumulation reports.
We also have a special module that handles livestock debt insurance.
Mistake tolerant
Everyone makes mistakes, but can your system handle humans? MYCO stores processed sales
in the "livestock archives". If a sale has been processed with incorrect details it can be
recalled from archives, reversed and reprocessed without any extra data entry.
Reporting Versatility
Our livestock statistics database breaks down information from the livestock sales into
meaningful reports like:
- Turnover
- Vendor trading
- Buyer trading
- Statistics based on stock code and type of sale
A feature of the MYCO system is a powerful in-built reporting functionality using
queries and filters. Once mastered there is no limit on your ability to report on any
information within the system.
Power Plus Accounting
Of course, the MYCO system is most powerful when MYCO's integrated accounting module
is used in conjunction with the MYCO livestock processing functionality. This system has
been designed specifically for livestock agents when a seller can be a buyer and visa
versa.
